Consanguinity – close relationship or connection
Morris growled, his teeth grit.
“How dare she? That treasure was mine, fair and square.”
“She did get there first, Captain.”
Morris fixed Joshua with a deadly glare. “Oh, of course. You would say that, wouldn’t you?”
Joshua blinked. “I’m not sure what you mean-”
Morris cut him off with a sharp bark of laughter.
“Don’t play the fool with me. I am well aware of your consanguinity. You betray us all.”
Joshua moved his hand to his hip. Morris followed the movement with his eyes and chuckled.
“You would challenge me for the right to continue to see your floozy?”
“She’s hardly a floozy. She does have the treasure, after all.”
“Yes,” Morris agreed.”Oh, do lower your hand, I’m not going to kill you. Not when you can still be of use.”
Joshua lowered his hand, but remained wary. “Of use?”
Morris nodded. “You’re going to use your… unique connection with Captain Abigail to find out where my treasure is.”
“And if I don’t?”
Morris grinned. “Then you will be needing that sword after all.”
