Word of the Day Challenge: Quotidian

Quotidian – daily/usual or customary; everyday/ordinary; commonplace

Warning: Feels. Lots of the feels.

Spoilers for: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Disclaimer: Don’t own Harry Potter

It was such a quotidian occurrence: to see the boy look across the hall at his older brother, almost as if he wanted to invite him over – or go over to join him.

He never moved, though. There was never anything other than those longing glances across the Great Hall: glances that he thought everyone missed, but he was terrible at hiding them.

People thought it strange at first, but most understood. They noticed, and they ignored.

But they also noticed when the glances stopped: when the seat was empty and there was no one left to give them.
